    The Area Manager (AM) is responsible for leading their store in creating the best first and lasting experience for every internal and external customer to ensure long-term brand loyalty. Consistently instills in the team an expectation for delighting all of our customers. 

    The AM is responsible for maximizing the home store’s sales goals through daily operations including the management of a sales staff (3-15 Teammates). The Area Manager will provide a consistent training approach to improve sales metrics with efficiency and consistency, improve learning, increase retention in our stores, and enhance a new Teammate’s on-boarding experience.  Central to this role is accountability for the completion of Store Visit Evaluations on assigned stores.  Completion of Store Visit Evaluations includes action plans for Store Manager to complete.

     

    Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

    • Strategic Planning and Execution

      1. SMs scope of responsibility is approximately 3-15 Teammates.
      2. Responsible to achieve sales and other store financial goals. Must analyze and understand financial goals, reports and track both individual and store results
      3. Responsible to interview, hire, and train sales staff according to Company guidelines
      4. Responsible to engage the sales Teammates and their customers
      5. Responsible to coordinate sales promotions and merchandise displays, which includes stock merchandise, and processing incoming and outgoing merchandise shipments in a timely matter
      6. Proficient in knowledge and execution of store operations: engraving; performance of all register transactions; and equipment maintenance
      7. Plan and prepare work schedules; managing to required payroll hours; and work single coverage in the store
      8. Accountable to balance cash daily, create nightly bank deposits and ensure Teammates are in compliance
      9. Conduct two annual comprehensive physical inventories. Maintain accurate inventory results throughout the year by analyzing weekly shipment reports and merchandise transfers
      10. Responsible to ensure the security of the store and offsite storage locations including locks, shipments and cash
      11. Create a retail store environment to ensure unsurpassed customer service, this includes but not limited to: clean, visually appealing retail store, complying with company guidelines and to ensure the store is in legal compliance
      12. AMs scope of responsibility is between 3 - 4 stores with $1.5 – $2.0 million annual sales volume
      13. Conduct quality store visits (90% of visit focuses on sales, people and visual), based on Company standards and provide written assessments, which identify strengths, opportunities and agreed-upon follow-up actions

       

    • Leadership

      1. Able to demonstrate successful selling techniques such as up-selling with the ability to articulate product and engraving information to enhance salesmanship and reach store and individual sales goals
      2. Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate verbally in a clear, audible, and grammatically correct manner
      3. Ability to listen, read, and accurately transcribe and verify customer message specifications onto engraved merchandise
      4. Demonstrate the ability to hold teams accountable and confront the tough issues
      5. Effective leadership through participation in any project team(s) she/he is assigned to
      6. Manage sensitive matters and maintains a high degree of confidentiality effectively
      7. Keep District Manager informed regarding all Store Visit Evaluations and developed action plans, as well as ensure any performance concerns at assigned stores are reviewed with District Manager

    Qualifications

    • Education and Experience

      1. High School diploma or GED
      2. Minimum of 3 years of retail management experience in a mall-based environment
